Chickens, Plants and Rock 'n' Roll!
Saturday, April 3

Book Signing 1:00 pm, Chicken Talk 2:00 pm, Chicken Music 3:00 pm - FREE

Kirkwood resident Bill Ruppert will bring his chickens and speak about keeping chickens and gardening around them in the suburbs while Central West Ender Jeff Fister will do the same regarding raising chickens in the city. Meanwhile Michael "Supe" Granda of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils will be on hand to sing "Chicken Train" and a few other famous tunes while Bowood's Ellen Barredo and Kathie Hoyer will talk about garden plants that survive, and thrive, next to the chicken coop.  Also both Fister, who recently authored "Counting Chickens, Raising 8 kids (and 4 hens) in the Central West End" and Supe, author of the new book "It Shined" will be selling and signing their books, starting at 1:00 pm. Bring a can of chicken soup - Soup, not Supe - and you get a chance to enter a raffle (prizes include a gift certificate to Bowood Farms, Jeff Fister's book plus a packet of Omega-3 Chicken Forage Blend!). Cans of soup will be donated to the CWE's Trinity Episcopal Church Food Pantry.

Jeff Fister was a guest on The Charlie Brennan Show on KMOX on 2/23/10! Click on the following link to download a podcast! http://www.kmox.com/pages/5436722.php
