Aegopodium podagraria 'Variegatum'
Bishops or Goutweed
Green leaves with white margins. White flowers, that are not very showy.
Growing & Maintenance Tips
No soil preference. Unvariegated shoots should be removed to prevent reversionof the plant to the green leaf species. Use as a ground cover where it can be restricted, such as between a sidewalk and the house. It is not as invasive as the green leaf species, but caution should still be used.
Interesting Information
Unkept foliage can be mowed close to the ground and will quickly grow back. Plant becomes weedy if not controlled effectively. Never plant in rock gardens where it can spread over choicer plants. Aegopodium is derived from the Greek words aix, goat, and podion, little foot. Aegopodium was once thought to cure gout.
