Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender)

Lavender

Long spikes of small highly scented lavender flowers, repeat bloom, if cut back. Leaves are narrow grey-green foliage, very fragrant.

Growing & Maintenance Tips
Full sun, well-drained soil. Plants grown in heavy soils will have a soft growth, which can create a hardiness problem; tender perennial. Rock gardens, cut flowers (planted in masses or small hedges), and used for sachets and potpourris.

Interesting Information
Lavandula is Latin for 'to wash', referring to the use of lavender in the bath. Oil of lavender used in perfume, is distilled from the flowers of true lavender. Flowers and leaves are used in potpourri, oils, vinegars, flower arranging, perfumes and medicinal applications.
