Full sun, well-drained soil. Plants grown in heavy soils will have a soft growth, which can create a hardiness problem; tender perennial. Rock gardens, cut flowers (planted in masses or small hedges), and used for sachets and potpourris.

Lavandula is Latin for 'to wash', referring to the use of lavender in the bath. Oil of lavender used in perfume, is distilled from the flowers of true lavender. Flowers and leaves are used in potpourri, oils, vinegars, flower arranging, perfumes and medicinal applications.
