Panicum virgatum 'Shenandoah'

Panicum virgatum (Red Switch Grass)

Red Switch Grass

Airy flower heads with a reddish cast. Foliage has red tips throughout summer and change to a stunning dark purple-red in fall.

Growing & Maintenance Tips
Switch grass prefers moist, fertile soil in full sun, although it tolerates extremes in soil conditions, from sand to heavy clay and from dry slopes to boggy areas. Switch grass is effective planted alone or massed in groups. Tall cultivars make excellent background plants. Good for naturalizing and attracting wildlife. Along roadsides, as a groundcover, for erosion control.
