Aquilegia clematiflora 'Green Apples'

Aquilegia clematiflora (Clematis-flowered Columbine)

Clematis-flowered Columbine

Double blossoms that start out apple green and gradually fade to white as they age, although keeping the green tint on their reverse. Leaves are a similar shade of green as the flowers when they are fresh, but they darken on maturing.

Growing & Maintenance Tips
Sun or partial shade in a well-drained moist soil. Makes a great border plant. Because the flowering season ends early, columbines shoulb be planted where their fading leaves will be camouflaged by foliage of other plants.

Interesting Information
Aquilegia is a derivation of aquila, like an eagle, which may refer to the resemblance of the spurlike petals to an eagle's beak.
