Kniphofia hirsuta 'Fire Dance'

Red Hot Poker

Coral red and yellow flower spikes are produced from early through late summer. Narrow, arching, blue-green foliage.

Growing & Maintenance Tips

Full sun, well-drained soils are required for successful growth. Heavy, soggy soils are nearly always fatal for this genus. Need good drainage and winter mulch. Single specimens or plantings in borders of not more than 3 together. Cut flowers are also a possible use. Since this is a short variety, it is very well suited for the small city garden.

Interesting Information

The name of the genus pays tribute to J.J. Kniphof, an 18th century professor in Germany.
