Growing & Maintenance Tips
Partial to full shade and humus-enriched soil. Plant is not tolerant of high temperatures and is at its best in mois, well-drained soils. Perfect plant for naturalizing in moist, woodland areas where its extensive root system will spread as far as it allows. Good patio plant.
Interesting Information
Nice winter interest, deer and rabbit resistant, makes a nice cut flower. Helleborus is derived from the Greek words, helein, to injure, and bora, food and refers to the bitter tasting leaves and roots which are poisonous when eaten. Evergreen, drought tolerant.
