Carex does well in shade, something that is not common to true ornamental grasses. Grows well in moist, well-drained soils. Good selection for massing. Few weeds will venture through a thick covering of Carex. It can also be used at the front of shade borders or rock gardens.
Interesting Information
Carex from Greek keiro, to cut, alluding to the leaf margins which are often sharp. This variety is drought tolerant when established.
