Medium wet to wet soil in partial shade. Foliage color is richer in shade than in sun. Thrives in moist soil. This is an excellent groundcover, ma be massed or grouped in the woodland path. Also may be grown inlow spots or along ponds or streams; used in rock gardens or spilling over a rocky slope.

Interesting Information
Carex from Greek keiro, to cut, alluding to the leaf margins which are often sharp. Cut this grass back to the ground in late winter. May benefit from a winter mulch.
